Wet Planet @ Forum Box 14.-19.7.2020

School is out, so is work. Actually, pretty much the whole society has quite literally gone down the drain as flooding has put a permanent shut down on all the typical hangouts. What kind of activities emerge when societal structures have collapsed but streaming still works – perhaps even better than ever.

Future visions often seem to divide either into dystopic end of the world scenarios or technological utopias. In Wet Planet a group of youngsters lives through a contradictory combination of these two possibilities in a world where rising seas have taken away the traditional, safe environment, but quickly developing technologies have provided new kinds of possibilities. The exhibition focuses on imagining what kind of youth cultures this new world could make possible and what kind of stories are being told in it.

Wet Planet is the result of a six month residency arranged by Kunstventures and Forum Box. The exhibition was supported by VISEK and The Finnish Cultural Foundation.
